The Columban Charisma of Welcome

Ever since Marion and I have travelled to Peru it has never ceased to amaze us how welcoming the Columbans have always been. This is especially so with regard to accommodation at the Center House, in Lima. There seems to be a never ending flow of visitors through this residence. Some for a day, some for a night and some, like ourselves, for quite a few nights!
This was typical of a few nights ago. We arrived back from Ayacucho at about 8.30 a.m. to find two families in residence. One from Ireland and another Australia; Brisbane to be precise. Both families had strong connections with the Columbans and had been travelling around Peru on holidays.
It was wonderful to sit around, have a wine and share stories, and to feel so comfortable and safe doing just that. It is equally amazing to discover that when you begin to share stories you realise just how many personal experiences and knowledge of other people that you have in common. Even half way around the world!

And from Ireland Michael Kelly, his wife Maxine and their children visiting old friends in Lima.
