Our informal “Graduation Dinner” for the English class.

The happy group displaying their certificates.
From the back left: Brother Jimi, Tania, Cristina, Gloria, Carmen, self, Edith, Junior Milton, Zulma, Juana, Mary Luz and Juan Fernando.
From the front left: Yeny and daughter Angie, Marion and Lidia.
We had three unfortunate absentees: Padre Braulio, Ruth and Leticia.

Last night we celebrated the end of the English classes with a very special dinner and the presentation of the ‘Conversational English’ certificates. The certificates were a means of recognising each person’s effort over the past four months; they outlined the actual number of hours attended by each person as well as the content we endeavoured to cover during that time. Each carried the signatures of Brother Jimi, President of COSMA, Marion and I as well as the COSMA official seal or stamp.

The venue, La Casona Restaurant, could not have been better, an upstairs private room with a magnificent Retablo depicting the six major days of Semana Santa – Holy Week – on the far wall.

Some of the guests arrive for the evening celebrations.
The actual meal was excellent, a choice of two entrees, four main courses and finishing with a huge black forest cake. Needless to say the pisco sours and red wine were equally acceptable by the entire group.

A fitting end to the classes; we had lots of fun, lots of English/Spanish chatter and lots of memories.

During the meal we were even presented with two typical Ayacuchan ceramic figures by Carmen, another memory to take home.
