Semana Santa...Palm Sunday morning.

We had heard the previous evening that a simple blessing of the palms would occur at 7.00 a.m. outside Templo San Agustin’s church, well a few were there when we arrived just prior to seven!

As the morning progressed so did the preparations.

Eventually the priest arrived for the ceremony; however, it seemed that he was seeking some help from elsewhere.

The short blessing ceremony began and special palms were distributed to some of the more important people within the congregation…

…guess who missed out?

The procession of a few hundred then moved off…

…around the Plaza de Armas.

The ladies weaving the palms into intricate designs outside the churches are extremely busy. People are constantly purchasing them for only S/-2.00 each.
